Quizzical: Instructions

Dashboard

The dashboard shows a list of quizzes you have access to. This includes your own quizzes and any that you have been granted access to. The tabs allow you to view:

Groups

To add a student group, click the “Create Group” button.

For each user, type or copy-paste in their details in this format:

student ID, email address [Enter]
student ID, email address [Enter]

If you do not have a student identification number (e.g. for staff/PhD students) you can add a unique name or number such as the CDU user ID.

Create and manage a quiz

  • On the dashboard, click the "Add Survey" button at the top right of the page.

  • To add a new question, click the "Add Question" box at the bottom of the page.

  • To add a new answer, click the "Add Answer" button at the bottom of the question.
  • A new answer will be added to the question.

  • A quiz that has not yet been scheduled can be edited by clicking "View Quiz" or the pencil icon.
  • This takes you to the page to add or edit survey questions and answers. Your changes are automatically saved as you work.
  • This option will not be available once a quiz has been scheduled.

Edit quiz

  • The title field at the top of the page changes the name of the quiz.

  • To edit the text of a question, type in the text in the box next to the question number.

  • To edit the answer, text type the new answer into the box.

  • To set an answer as correct click the tick to the left of the answer text.
  • If the tick is grey, the answer is incorrect; if it is black, it is correct.
  • If a question has multiple correct answers, only one of them needs to be selected.

  • Clicking "View Quiz" will open a detailed view of an existing quiz.
  • If a quiz has not been scheduled (i.e. is still in draft mode), a form to edit the questions will appear.
  • If a quiz has already been scheduled, a list of all the quiz questions will be shown but cannot be edited.
  • Note: you made need to refresh the page if you cannot see the 4 icons circled below.
View an existing quiz
  • You can clone an existing quiz for reuse by clicking the copy icon.
  • This will create a new unscheduled quiz with all the same question content ready to modify and schedule.

  • To duplicate a question with all its answers, click the copy icon (2 pages) to the right of the question text.
  • A copy of the question will be added at the end of the list.

  • To copy the answer to a question, click the copy icon (2 pages) to the right of the answer.
  • A copy of the answer will be added to the end of the question.

  • You can only delete a quiz that has not been scheduled.
  • To delete, click the rubbish bin icon. It will be immediately deleted.

  • If you accidently delete a survey, click the "undo" option at the bottom right of the screen.

  • To delete a question, click the rubbish bin to the right of the question text. The question will immediately be removed.

  • If you accidently delete a question, click undo at the bottom right.

  • To delete an answer from a question, click the rubbish bin to the right of the answer text. The answer will be immediately removed.

  • You can restore an accidently deleted answer by pressing undo at the bottom right of the screen.

Schedule and send a quiz

To configure sending for the quiz, click "Schedule" at the bottom right of the page.

You can configure who to send the quiz to, how many questions to send at a time, and when to start sending.

Note: This page is only available to the quiz creator. After the quiz is scheduled you will no longer be able to edit it.

  • To add a group of recipients to a survey select the group from the drop-down list labelled "Select group to send quiz to". The group will appear above the select box.

  • If you want to remove a group, click the cross to the right of the group name.

Delete group

  • You can only send to groups you have created. If you need to add a new group, select Groups from the menu on the left.

  • Quizzical can present users with multiple questions at once. The drop down list next to "Questions" lets you select how many questions users will be presented with at a time.

Number of questions to send

  • To set the date that the quiz starts getting sent to recipients, select the desired date from the data picker.

  • The calculated date of the last email will be shown beside the start date.
  • You can change the end date by modifying the number of questions sent a day, changing the start date or by adding or removing questions from the quiz.
  • To review the quiz questions before sending, click "Review" at the bottom-right.

Students will receive an email with a link to the quiz.
